Quickest Cleanse Ever! All You Need Is Water?

Quickest Cleanse Ever! All You Need Is Water?

Do you have dry, sensitive or irritated skin?

Just want something that will gently cleanse your face and/or body?

Well, if you answered YES to the above, I am so excited to share my secret with you!
Firstly, I want to give you a little bit of a back story. From as long as I can remember, pretty much my whole life, I have always struggled with eczema and skin sensitivity.

I remember my parents trying a whole lot of things; different diets, for example cutting out dairy, also using a number of creams, lotions, soaps, etc. Pretty much anything you name, we have probably tried.

But you guessed it, none of them really worked.

And let me tell you, it can get REALLY itchy sometimes, but the worst part was when everyone would tell me not to scratch, “try not to itch”, “just rub it gently”, “just…”
But if you have or have had eczema, you know exactly how it feels and how much you just want to itch. And when you’re a kid, not a whole lot of listening happens.

As I got older, I learnt how to keep it under control and somewhat manage the issue. But the thing I always struggled with was showering. For a person who loves hot showers, that is a very hard thing to do with eczema, because it just makes your skin… you guessed it… drier and itchier.

Not only is the water temperature an issue but also the products you use as well. I cannot name the number of “sensitivity” gels, soaps and washes I have tested out.

The worst feeling is when you’re trying something new for the first time and you feel this tingling sensation… And you just know that there is going to be an irritation no matter how quick you wash it away, because the reaction has already started.

And it doesn’t just end in the shower. It continues after, all day and all night, you just feel itchy.
Also imagine using a loofa or body brush with these products, they are no fun at ALL. As I found them to be quite abrasive and rough on my skin, drying it out even more than it already was. I was just shocked because I read reviews about products like this and how great they are at exfoliating and cleansing the skin, but little did I know I was making things worse for myself.

All I can remember is that every time after showering, I would just lather myself in moisturiser because my skin felt so raw, irritated and dry.

Fast forward to only a few months ago, a bored night when I decided to research body sponges and finally find a better solution. I soon came across konjac sponges.

Instantly, I was like, I have to give this ago, and at this point, I had nothing to lose and everything to gain because I just needed something to ease with the itching but still made my skin feel clean.

So, I took a risk and I got two konjac sponges, one for my face and one for my body. And boy, oh boy, was this a game changer.

I have not touched a loofa or even exfoliation glove in months and I will tell you now, I never will.
What really got me, was how soft once wet, the konjac sponge felt, it was kind of like slime, but in a good way. And my skin, felt cleansed and soft after, plus I didn’t have to add any products to it. It is honestly a game changer in my skincare routine.

I just couldn’t believe how overlooked these sponges were and why there isn’t more of them in the stores stores rather than loofas, exfoliation gloves, body brushes and so forth. They are just so gentle and no matter your skin type, I think they are perfect at keeping skin hydrated at the same time as cleansing.

In all honesty, I saw results immediately after use and it was at that point that I knew I had to share this with others, especially those who have the same skin struggles as myself.

With more research I came to know konjac sponges are used on babies in Japan. Why, you might ask? Is because they have a soft texture and are gentle on the skin – as they do not scratch the skin once wet.

Firstly, let me tell you a little bit about konjac sponges, they are made from vegetable fibres from the konjac potato (Konnyaku). A plant that is native to Asia.

Being made from vegetable fibres, they contain a number of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants, that nourish and soothe the skin naturally.

A bonus is that they are also naturally alkaline, helping to balance skin pH levels.
So, how do they work?

Let me tell you, it’s very easy. Their unique fibres have the ability to hold water well and inturn, the water acts as a layer between the sponge and skin. As a result, the skin NEVER comes into contact with the fibres directly, but it does with abundance of positive benefits.

A great point made from this is the fact that it prevents scratching and potential damage to the skin. If you were to rub a dry (not wet) konjac sponge on your face, I can tell you now, it’s going to hurt. The fibres are quite hard, rough and firm. However, once water is added, you see the sponge under go a reaction, and it’s texture instantly changes.

I can keep boring you with the the awesomeness of konjac sponges but I feel it’s one of those things you just have to try to believe.

I’m sure I am not the only one who now swears by this sponge and if you do too, or have any questions, or even remedies for dry & sensitive skin, please message me!

I would love to hear from you all 😀
